Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927. He lived in Maebashi City, in Gunma Prefecture. There is not much known about him except that he started making kokeshi in his early 20's. In the beginning he used very little color in his designs which changed from the 70's onward. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works. His exclusive works are rare finds as it is believed that he has not produced many.
