Yoshida Takashi was a renowned kokeshi master and has won several important awards including the the Prime Minister's Award. He was born in in Kiryu City, Gunma prefecture in June 1948. He studies studied Design at the the Textile Department of Prefectural Kiryu Technical High School. After graduation, he first worked for a company. In 1953, at the age of 30, he started his apprenticeship under Master Inosuke Kobayashi. He produced some very rare and exclusive Kokeshi Art where a dialog is formed between the the natural wood gains and the design of the kokeshi. Some of these Kokeshi are very realistic sculptures of ladies or childern. Art very distinct from his peers.
