Created by Shozan Shido (志形尚山, 1932–1995), this striking kokeshi combines a tall, cylindrical body with a bold, minimalist face. The small pointed crest, dark geometric eyes and oval mouth give the figure an almost tribal-inspired character, while the elongated proportions reinforce its sculptural presence. The warm, brown wood and pronounced grain bring depth and texture to the simple form, allowing the natural material to become an essential part of the design. Through its stylised features and powerful simplicity, Shido reinterprets the traditional kokeshi as a distinctive work of modern sculpture.
