Inosuke Kobayashi’s 小林伊之助 Song of Autumn (Aki no Uta) 秋の唄 is a striking sculptural kokeshi, distinguished by its elongated form and richly textured surface. The figure’s long black hair frames a serene face, while delicate autumnal motifs decorate the warm wooden body, evoking the colours and quiet atmosphere of the season. The contrast between the dark hair, natural wood and subtle painted details enhances the piece’s expressive presence. This limited-edition kokeshi (indicated on the kokeshi itself) reflects Kobayashi’s distinctive approach to creative kokeshi, combining traditional craftsmanship with a bold, sculptural design.
