Flower Garden (Hanazono) 花園 by Toa Sekiguchi 関口東亜 (1942–) is a striking 50 cm kokeshi decorated with a dense pattern of flowers in warm shades of orange, red, yellow and green. Her long, cylindrical body creates an elegant silhouette, while the dark, carefully carved hair frames a serene face. The richly patterned floral design evokes a garden in full bloom, celebrating the abundance and beauty of nature through Sekiguchi’s distinctive use of colour and intricate decoration.
