This sosaku kokeshi has such elegance with her big bow on her back. Her title refers to the Japanese kerria, a shrub with bright yellow flowers. Its scientific name is Kerria japonica. In classical Japanese literature and poetry, yamabuki often symbolizes spring, elegance, or sometimes unspoken feelings (there’s a famous poetic association with silence and beauty).
This kokeshi has a very recognizable face and a slim design that is similar to Osono The Dancer, Shozan's best known kokeshi. He uses the natural wood grain to bring out a delicate and beautiful design.
